More often than not, our clients want to know what must be done to get the occupational license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (Texas DPS). Although the answer is simple, the procedures and preparations necessary to obtain an occupational drivers license issued is complex and time consuming. Fortunately, we have the experience requisite to assist our clients reach their goals.
Generally, the Texas DPS requires the following items before they will issue the appropriate occupational license:

- The certified copy of the petition and a certified copy of the court order granting the occupational license. (If the individual is participating in a special drug court program, the petition is not required. The judge has the authority to grant an occupational order.)
- An original Form SR-22 certificate of insurance. This is the only proof of insurance acceptable.
- An occupational license fee for a one-year license or less. The maximum length of issuance is a 2-year license, provided that the court order grants this length of time.
- All required reinstatement fees.
